Saigon Drift & Dust is a giclée print that reactivates the memory of a city that no longer exists as itself, through a vaporwave haze. A highly saturated blue palette washes over delicate, classical linework, creating a tension between a futuristic vibe and a nostalgic past.
At the center stands a young woman with an expression that is both tender and mischievous. She represents qualities that are both beautiful and flawed, both good and bad—much like the city. Around her, the imagery of smoke and dust is rendered as romantic mist: a reflection of Saigon’s past openness and free-spiritedness, while also evoking the smog, traffic, and grit of the present city.
The work folds these two extremes into a single frame: nostalgia as a future once imagined, and the future as a ghost made of vapor. The figure becomes the hinge of that contradiction—dreamy yet practical, soft yet resilient—an outline where past and present overlap without resolution.
